Rates, fees and rules change

Interest rates, charges, eligibility criteria, tax thresholds and regulations in India change frequently — small savings rates are reviewed quarterly, banks reprice deposits without notice, and card terms can change with a month's notification. We date every figure and re-verify tables regularly, but there will be periods when a page is behind reality.

Always confirm the current terms directly with the bank, issuer or the relevant government department before acting. Where our figure and theirs disagree, theirs is correct and ours is a bug — please report it.

What the calculators can and cannot tell you

The calculators implement the standard formulas Indian institutions use, and their assumptions are stated on each page. They are illustrations, not quotations. In particular:

• Loan results exclude processing fees, insurance, stamp duty and GST unless a page says otherwise, and assume a constant interest rate.
• Investment projections assume a return you enter. They are arithmetic, not a forecast. Market-linked returns are not guaranteed and past performance does not indicate future results.
• Tax results depend on rules that vary with individual circumstances and on inputs only you can supply. They are not a substitute for a filed return prepared with professional help.

Your lender's or the department's own computation prevails over ours in every case.
